If anyone is up in Washington: The 69th Pacific Northwest Scottish Highland Games are happening in Enumclaw, WA, July 24, 25 & 26, 2015. www.sshga.org/games/spectatorInfo/tickets.htmI've been meaning to go for a few years, but looks like another year, as we'll be in final count down for Ireland.  And of course just missed the Bellingham Games (http://www.bellinghamhighland.org/) by 9 days. |

My partner and I have that weekend scheduled as away time together, I wonder if I can convince him to go on a road trip, hmmmmmm....

Many many years ago, I was a guest at the Seattle Highland Games. I won the spot from Central / Eastern Michigan "Grand Rapids Pipe Band" competition. The score was from band work and Pibroch (spelling of that piping varies a lot) , I at least "placed" at the Seattle competition. One of the judges said my own composition was warlike enough, reminding him of Bears charging.....while I at the time, just was nervous that the drones went into a weird tuning and I tried to match the change with Chanter moves I made up on the spot.
It is amazing what creativity brings.

Ooh, yes. One of these days I will make it to a Highland Games. They have one in California too, up in Angel's Camp (Sierra foothills). I'm not sure of the dates, but I know Branwen has been before.
